Infantino Recalls Infant Sling Carriers Due to Fall Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Infantino LLC, of San Diego, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 100,000 SlingRider Infant Carriers. The plastic slider on the fabric strap can break. This can cause the strap supporting the carrier to release and infants to fall out of the carrier.
Digital Security Controls Recalls Smoke Detectors that Could Fail to Warn of a Fire
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Digital Security Controls, of Toronto, Canada, is voluntarily recalling about 32,000 Digital Security Controls FSA and FSB Series Smoke Detectors. These smoke detectors could fail to reliably detect smoke during a fire.
Maytag® and Samsung™ Brand Front Loading Washing Machines Recalled Due to Fire Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Maytag Corp., of Newton, Iowa, and Samsung Electronics America Inc., of Ridgefield Park, N.J., are voluntarily recalling about 250,000 Maytag-brand Front Loading Washing Machines and about 20,000 Samsung-brand Front Loading Washing Machines. Water leakage onto the electrical connections to the washing machine’s thermal sensor could cause an electrical short and ignite a circuit board, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
Hanna Andersson Recalls Children’s Loungewear Due to Burn Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hanna Andersson of Portland, Ore., is voluntarily recalling about 12,300 Hanna Andersson Children’s Crossover Tee and Lounge Pant Sets and Cropped Johns. The recalled garments fail to meet the children’s sleepwear flammability standards. The Crossover Tee and Lounge Pant sets were marketed as loungewear. The Cropped Johns were not marketed as loungewear, but could be used as loungewear. The children’s sleepwear flammability standards require sleepwear, including loungewear, to be either snug-fitting or flame resistant.
CPSC Urges New Parents to Adopt Lifesaving Routine to Prevent Child Poisonings; Poison Prevention Has Saved More Than 900 Lives Since the 1970s
Every day thousands of new parents assume the responsibility of caring for and protecting a child. Many of these first-time caregivers are unaware of the dangers of unintentional poisonings often related to medicines and household products commonly found in the home, such as personal care products, over-the-counter pain relievers and cleaning substances.
Children’s Necklaces Sold Exclusively at Claire’s Stores Recalled Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Claire’s Boutiques Inc., of Hoffman Estates, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 58,000 Children’s Necklaces. The recalled necklaces contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
Toys “R” Us Recalls “Elite Operations” Toy Sets Due to Lead and Laceration Hazards
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Toys “R” Us Inc., of Wayne, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 128,700 “Elite Operations” Toy Sets. These toys contain high levels of lead in the paint, which is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. Also, the toys have sharp points, posing a laceration hazard.
Tri-Star International Recalls Children’s Stationery Sets Due to Laceration Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Tri-Star International Inc., of Newark, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 360 Children’s Stationery Sets. The children’s stationery set contains a razor blade cutter with a sharp edge, posing a laceration hazard to young children.
Children’s Necklaces Sold Exclusively at Accessories Palace Recalled by United Imports Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), United Imports Inc., of Flushing, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about 3,600 Children’s Mood Necklaces. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
Fisher-Price Fined $975,000 for Failing to Report a Serious Choking, Aspiration Hazard with a Popular Children’s Toy
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today that Fisher-Price Inc., of East Aurora, N.Y., has agreed to pay a $975,000 civil penalty. The penalty, which the Commission has provisionally accepted, settles allegations that the company failed to report to the government that a nail fastener in the Little People® Animal Sounds Farm could separate from the toy and pose a serious choking or aspiration hazard to young children.
