Consumer Product Safety Commission
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is aware of reports that some retailers in the U.S. have been selling Kinder-brand chocolate eggs in advance of the Easter holiday. CPSC staff is alerting retailers that the product as sold is banned in the U.S. and they should be removed from store shelves. In August 1997, CPSC conducted a recall of these eggs.
The Kinder eggs are hollow milk chocolate eggs about the size of a large hen's egg in an orange, white and blue foil wrapper. The toy within the egg is contained in an oval-shaped plastic capsule. The toy requires assembly and each egg contains a different toy. The labeling is in various languages. Consumers who have purchased this product should immediately take them away from young children.
Gemmy Industries Corp. Recalls Disney Plush Easter Baskets Sold at Wal-Mart Due to Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Gemmy Industries Corp., of Coppell, Texas, is voluntarily recalling about 8,500 Disney Princesses Easter Baskets. Silver beads and ribbons attached to the basket can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
Target Recalls Activity Cart Toys Due to Choking Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Target, of Minneapolis, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 18,500 Little Tree Wood Activity Cart Toys. The orange hubcaps on the wheel of the cart can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
Various Metal Key Chains Recalled by Dollar General for Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dollar General Merchandising, Inc., of Goodlettsville, Tenn., is voluntarily recalling about 396,000 Metal Key Chains. The key chains contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
A&A Global Industries Recalls Children’s Bracelets Due to Lead Poisoning Hazard
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), A&A Global Industries, of Cockeysville, Md., is voluntarily recalling about 4 million Children’s “Groovy Grabber” Bracelets. The paint on the metallic band beneath the decorative cover contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
