Home Redecorating Do’s

There are some important tips for home decorating to consider when you are redecorating your home. Read for some important home decorating do’s that you don’t want to forget.

Begin by identifying a style or theme that you love.
Do you love sunflowers? Then consider decorating your kitchen with the bright yellow flower. If you are the outdoors kind consider using greens and blues and accenting with outdoor scenes and items like fish and bears. Look through magazines or on-line for different home decorating tips and ideas. You don’t want to start redecorating and then realize that you don’t like it.

Visualize your room. You want to have an even distribution of color, furniture, and accessories. Don’t put a splash of red on one side of the room and leave the other side without color. My living room didn’t feel balanced with just a couch and chair in the room, until I added a tree in the corner. It filled in the space and off set the single chair in the room.

Accessorize your home with your personal style. I like pictures and so most of the rooms in my house contain pictures of my family. I also love flowers and plants, although I have a hard time keeping them alive. So I have added greenery and flowers around my home. If you aren’t sure what your style is consider the clothing that you wear. Do you like simple designs or bold ones? Do you accessorize your outfits with belts, necklaces, and dangly earrings or wear little jewelry? If you like things simple keep your home simple. Use a basic color like blue or green that isn’t too bright and add a few items around the room but don’t overdo it. If you like to accessorize then add items like pillows with a beaded fringe, vases, candles, and other interesting items. Try using a bold print with bright colors like red or orange.

Shop around You can find some great deals if you are willing to take the time. Don’t assume that the pillows you really love can only be found in one place. You might find a similar item for a lot less somewhere else. When we went shopping for a new couch my husband was tired after the second store and so we bought a couch. Then a few months later we found a comparable item for about $400 less at a different store. For great deals shop yard sales, flea markets, or online sites like E-bay or CraigsList.

Sometimes it is better to spend a little more money and get a higher quality item that will last longer.

Spend your money where it counts. Make sure that the items that you spend your money on are worth it. If you buy a small lamp for $90 it will not make near the impact that $90 worth of new curtains will on a room. So be choosy and use our home decorating tips smartly.

If you remember these home decorating do’s you’re sure to create a masterpiece.
