Have A Girls Night Out

by Teresa, The CuteKid™ Staff

For many mothers it is hard to stay connected with friends after having children. I had children two years before any of my friends did. Which meant that I was doing the mother thing while many of them were still carefree and single. Staying connected was not always easy. Even now two of my best friends aren’t married and have no children so getting together as families is not the best option. The thing that we found worked best was having a girl’s night out. Here are few girls night out ideas:

Schedule a time for girls nigh out that works for most of you, since you probably won’t be able to get everyone there. Then stick to the date. If you plan far enough in advance there will be fewer schedule conflicts.

We usually prefer girls nigh out party at restaurant and meet together for dinner. One of our favorites is the Olive Garden, since we have memories of sharing dinners there while college roommates. We get together, talk, and catch up on our lives. The last time we got together we sat around the table for three hours just visiting. In the summer it is fun to get takeout or pack a picnic and go to the park.

When I get together with my sisters we like to have a girl’s night in instead of arranging a girls night out party. We take turns hosting the event. Whosever house the event is at sends their children and spouse to a different sister’s house.

Sometimes we play games, scrapbook, or work on other crafts. We often watch movies together. We’ll pick some chick flick that our husbands don’t want to see and pile on the couch with a bowl of caramel popcorn. Last time we got together we watched the short version of Pride and Prejudice, something my husband refused to watch with me.

Sometimes we eat dinner together, provided by the hostess or make it a potluck. Just make sure that you have something good to eat. We often make desserts that we don’t normally serve to our children, like stuffed crêpes.

Whatever you do remember that if the mother isn’t happy no one is happy and a girls night out with your friends can do wonders for you mood.
