Cook Up Some Ghoulish Delights

by Teresa, The CuteKid™ Staff

Halloween just isn't the same without some ghoulish food to go along with it. So make some of these main course, appetizer, or dessert ghoulish dishes and listen as your kids howl with delight. For even more fun let your little monsters help create these Halloween delights.

Werewolf Hands

You will need:

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
Shake and bake
Cooking spray
10 pitted black olives cut in half
1/4 cup cream cheese

Directions

  1. Take each chicken breast and make five vertical cuts stopping about 2 inches from the end. This will create your palm and five fingers.

  2. Pour the shake and bake mix onto a plate then roll each hand in the mix. Make sure each finger is well coated.

  3. Spray a frying pan with cooking spray and cook the chicken about four-five minutes on each side. Or bake it in the oven at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes.

  4. Place a small dab of cream cheese on the end of each finger and attach half an olive for the nail.

  5. Serve the werewolf hand on a bed of blood and guts (spaghetti with tomato sauce).

Spider Cake

You will need:

Cake mix of choice
Chocolate frosting
Chocolate licorice sticks
Large white gumballs
Bundt pan

Directions

  1. Cook the cake in a bundt pan following the directions on the cake mix box.

  2. When the cake is cool frost it in chocolate frosting.

  3. Spray a frying pan with cooking spray and cook the chicken about four-five minutes on each side. Or bake it in the oven at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes.

  4. Poke eight pieces of licorice into the sides of the cake or slide underneath.

  5. Put the white gumballs on top of the cake for eyes. Put a dab of chocolate frosting on each gumball.

Eyeball Crispie Treats

You will need:

40 large marshmallows
6 cups rice crispies
2 TB butter
White Chocolate
Red decorating gel
M&Mís

Directions

  1. Melt the butter and marshmallows on low heat until melted. Add the rice crispies and stir until well coated.

  2. While still warm form the rice crispies into balls and let them cool.

  3. Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring every 30 seconds until melted. Roll the rice crispie balls in the melted chocolate.

  4. Once the chocolate is cooled use the red decorating gel to make blood shot eyes and top with a M&M in the center.

Ghost Chips

You will need:

Tortillas
Oil
Ghost cookie cutter

Directions

  1. Pour 1-2 inches of oil into a fry pan. Heat the oil to 350 degrees.

  2. While the oil is heating cut ghost shapes out of the tortillas.

  3. Check if the oil is hot by dropping a small piece of tortilla in the oil. If it sizzles and floats to the top then the oil is ready. Drop a few of the ghosts into the oil. Fry for a few minutes on each side until lightly browned.

To serve:
