Does your Child have IT!
...
that special Star potential
by Teresa ,The CuteKid™ Staff

Have you had people stop and tell you that your baby or child is beautiful? Or your child is so dramatic they should be on stage? Have you thought about getting your child into modeling or acting and becoming a child starlet?

Many parents wonder if their child could be a child model or have a career in acting. Often parents can recognize if their child has the necessary qualities and disposition for acting or modeling by looking at their behavior and personality.

Is your child outgoing and animated?
Does she say hello when introduced and willingly join a conversation?
Does he love to sing, dance, or act out stories for you?
Does he imitate things that he has seen on T.V. or movies while playing?
Does she willingly respond when asked a question by someone she has just met?

If you answered yes to all of these questions then chances are you have a potential child starlet . Most child stars are attention getters, they show-off at every opportunity. Potential stars have no problem talking to and meeting new people. This is a skill required in the acting and modeling field. In these fields children are constantly being put in new situations with people they have never met before. If they do not have an outgoing personality they will easily become frightened and overwhelmed.

Before you envision your child winning best actress for a stunning performance you must first consider if your child actually wants to be an actor or model? Before deciding your child's career talk to them about what the job would entail and what would be required. Make sure that it is something that they are interested in pursuing as well.

To prepare your child for potential acting jobs let them practice on you. After watching a commercial or T.V. bit, with a child near your own child's age, have your child pretend to be the actor they just watched. If she easily parrots back the lines from the commercial then you will know she is ready. By practicing like this your child is improving her memory (lines must be memorized for acting jobs), acting on demand (will have to perform for casting directors and producers), and becoming comfortable with acting out different roles. Commercials are usually the first acting jobs that children get. Roles in television or movies come later.

Realize that most child starlet acting jobs are found in larger cities, predominately on the west or east coast. If you are really serious about having your child act, start out small with local businesses and magazines before relocating your family. You may find that even though your child has star potential they are happier just playing in your backyard than ruling the stage.
