You pick up the phone and your child’s agent says a child got sick and they would like you
to bring your child in for a modeling session. Can you be there in an hour? You say yes,
hang up the phone, and then frantically throw things together in your child’s modeling grab bag hoping that you don’t forget anything important.

In the modeling industry casting calls and even jobs can happen without a lot of previous notice. While at the casting call or job your child will be spending a lot of time just sitting around so it is essential that you have items in your child’s model grab bag to help keep
him or her entertained. So to help yourself, pack a modeling grab bag that you can take
with you at a moment’s notice. In the bag you can place all of the items that you will need. That way when you get the call you will be ready.

Here’s a list of items that you should pack in your child model grab bag:

1. Small toys. For small children provide a few soft toys. For older children try
putting in some toy cars, action figures, a card game, blocks, or small doll. Make sure that the toys aren’t noisy. You don’t want to distract others or create extra noise. There are a lot of electronic toys that are also great for entertaining kids just make sure that you keep the sound down low or turned off.

2. Books or magazines. Get some cheap books or magazines at a thrift store or library sale and add them to the bag or rotate books from home.

3. Food. No matter what age your child is snacks are essential. Pack easy to eat items that will not create big messes like crackers, dry cereal, or fruit snacks. Keep a bottle of water that is half full in the freezer. Then you can just pull it out, fill it up, and slip it in the bag before you leave. If your child takes a bottle be sure to pack formula and an empty bottle.

4. Drawing materials. Add some coloring books or paper, crayons, pencils, or colored pencils. You could also include.

5. A change of clothes. This is essential for younger children but a good idea for even older children. You never know when you child might get splashed on, spilled on, or some other unforeseen accident. Diapers and wipes are needed for younger models.

6. Paperwork. Keep a copy of your child’s modeling contract and any permit forms that are required by the state. That way you’ll have them with you when you need them most.

7. Antibacterial wipes/sanitizer. Keeping wipes and hand sanitizer helps protect you and your child from all of the germs that are around.

By having a child modeling grab bag ready to go you will ease your stress and be ready for that call.
