BBQ Cooking With Your Kids
By Teresa – CuteKid™ Staff

Most kids love to help out and get involved in what their parents are doing, especially when they’re young. Every time my husband breaks out the BBQ grill my kids are right there ready to help; usually there isn’t much they can help him with. But here are some kids friendly BBQ grilling recipes that your children will love to help you make. I know mine do.

Banana boats: If your children love banana splits they will love this grilled variation.

You will need: banana, chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, tinfoil, knife

Directions: Leave the peel on the banana and cut a slit through the peel and about 3/4 of the way through the banana from one end to the other. Stuff the split in the banana with chocolate chips and marshmallows. Close up the banana peel the best you can. Then wrap the entire banana in tinfoil. Set on the grill for 4-5 minutes or until the chocolate chips have melted and the marshmallows are warm. Peel the banana and enjoy. The banana will be hot so let it cool for a few minutes before eating.BBQ Grilling Recipes - Smores

Smores
: most kids love this ooey-gooey traditional favorite. For a yummy variation spread one of the graham crackers with peanut butter.

You will need: large marshmallows, chocolate ships or chocolate bars, graham crackers, roasting stick or wire hanger (Note: If you use a wire hanger unfold it then burn the end in the flame before using. This will remove the coating.)

Directions: If you are using chocolate chips stick the chocolate chips with the pointy side into the marshmallow. Cook the marshmallow over the barbeque flame until it is toasty. Then place the marshmallow on a graham cracker and top with the other half. If you used a chocolate bar add the chocolate bar to the graham cracker before placing the marshmallow on top.

Pig in a blanket: if you are cooking hotdogs why not let your children roast their own.

Cooking BBQ Recipes with Kids - Pig N Blanket

You will need: hotdog, refrigerated biscuit dough or thawed roll dough, roasting stick or wire hanger

Directions: Place the hotdog on the roasting stick. Wrap the biscuit or roll dough around the hotdog, try to spread the dough evenly. Cook over the grill by turning the hotdog until the breading is lightly browned all over.

Flat bread: this toasty bread makes a great side item with butter and honey or a meal when topped with taco ingredients.

You will need: thawed roll dough

Directions: Let your children use their hands to flatten out the dough into a circle shape. Cook the dough on the grill until it is lightly browned. Turn frequently to prevent burning.

Have a fantastic BBQ season... and remember to have fun by cooking these BBQ gilling recipes with your kids. And, be safe.
Happy BBQ'n
