Why Dance Class?

by Teresa, The CuteKid™ Staff

When we pull out the camera we all hope for that perfect picture of our child. Yet the results are often less than desired. Here are some tips on how you can take great pictures of your kids.

Increase Confidence As your child learns a new skill and improves her confidence will grow. She will feel better about herself. Having a skill like dance gives your child something to focus her time and energy on. When others are discussing their talents or what they can do she can proudly say that she is a dancer.

Dancers are required to appear in public. As your child overcomes her fears and performs on stage her self-confidence will grow. This self-confidence will spill over into other areas of her life. Because she knows she can get on stage and dance she will be less afraid to speak in front of others, make presentations, or teach a skill.

Opportunities for Travel Often dance groups have the opportunity to travel for contests or other events. Traveling is an education in itself. I remember some French girls staying with our family for a week as they participated in a world dancing festival in our city. Because of dance they visited America and were exposed to dancers from around the world.

Exercise Dancing is great exercise. Obesity among children is on the rise. Getting your child involved in an activity like dance will help ensure that they maintain a good weight. Just make sure that emphasis is not placed upon your daughter maintaining an unrealistic weight. Dance for kids also provides an excellent cardiovascular workout. Helping keep the heart healthy and strong.

Improves Social Skills Dancing requires that children work with other children and interact with an adult teacher. The child who has a hard time getting to know other people with benefit from a non-threatening environment found in a dance class. Children are grouped together by the teacher and as a result the shy child is included. Everyone participates so no one is left sitting on the sidelines. As your child spends time with the other members of the class friendships can be developed. The more people a child interacts with the more comfortable they become with meeting new people.
