Helping your child find their "STYLE"

Clothing tells a lot about a person's personality. As your child grows you will want
to help them find the clothing "style" that best represents who they are. It may
be one style or a combination of clothing styles that shows off the person they are
inside. Following trends is okay, but following your true self is even better.
First list the top ten words you would use to describe your child's personality. Then take those
words and compare them to the different child clothing styles. Each child clothing styles includes
a few personality traits associated with that style and celebrities who typically wear that
style. Finally help your child choose clothing that best represents their personality style.
Classic/Conservative - Catherine Zeta Jones and Charlize Theron
This child likes things simple and formal clothing style. They tend to
not follow trends and are neat and graceful. They like things organized and
to be in control.
The clothing is basic, simple, and usually not revealing. If
there is layering it is clean. The style is more elegant with straight,
clean lines.
Funky - Mary Kate Olsen, Kirsten Dunst, Chloe Sevigny
Your child is playful and loves to experiment with things. They like to
be the center of attention and have other people notice them. They are
energetic and vivacious.
This clothing style consists of lots of messy layering, funky
combinations and color schemes along with large, unusual jewelry.
Casual – Drew Barrymore
This style best fits the child who likes things simple
and relaxed. Having fun is the main goal in life and fussy clothes would
just get in the way.
People who wear this clothing style own lots of jeans, tees, and
basic pieces (skirt, blazer). Most clothing is a single color or
a simple pattern without a lot of layering.
Punk – Kelly Osbourne
Does your child like the wild side of life? Is he into hard rock music? Does she not
care what other people think? Do the words bold and outrageous describe her? Then
punk is probably his clothing style.
Punk clothing is a funky style with lots of color, weird combos, and gritty,
blingy items.
Earthy – Kate Moss and Sienna Miller
This child is breezy and carefree. They are
often found dreaming. They take their time about things.
Earthy clothing style uses layering with billowy materials
belted with a bold belt. Combinations usually coordinate and
look well together.
