Ever Heard of a Diaper "Baby Cake?"

I had never heard of such a thing until I came across them on the internet a few months ago and I was very intrigued. Being on the practical and creative side?.I couldn?t resist combining a useful gift with one that was also decorative and I could make any way I liked.

I made and took my very first one to my daughter?s baby shower in November 2006 and it was a hit!

Normally three layers, baby diaper cakes are made with disposable diapers, rolled up and secured with small clear rubber bands. Baby items of your choice can be added after the ?cake? I assembled (or baked!). Booties, onesies, bibs, socks, lotions, diaper rash cream, fork and spoon sets, are just a few of the items that can be included.

Diapers are held together with ribbon and attached to a cardboard base surrounded with ruffles just like a real cake.

Theme baby cakes are very popular. Bears, Disney characters, Pooh Bear, Micky and Minnie, animals, sports, etc. are just a few of the themes.

Diaper cakes are great shower gifts for mom and can also be used as centerpieces.

The terrific thing about these cakes are that you can be as creative as you like.

Use curled ribbon to decorate, small silk flowers and shredded metallic shred add a shimmery, classy look.

Wrap finished product with clear cellophane wrap, tie at the top with ribbon. Can also be shrunk wrapped for mailing.

Made for boys and girls, generic (yellow or green) all moms or moms-to-be will welcome this gift. A beautifully decorated useful item.

So, let those creative juices flow?use your imagination and see a gorgeous gift appear.
