What To Buy For Father's Day?
I feel like buying presents for my husband or father on Father's Day,
but choosing Father's Day gift is much more difficult than them buying
on Mother's Day. The reason is simple just as boys toys are usually more
expensive than girl's toys, men's hobbies are often more expensive than
women's hobbies. For example I like to scrapbook and read. My husband
can't go wrong with a gift card to the scrapbook store or a new book.
My husband on the other hand likes to dirt bike. Most of the dirt bike
related items are expensive.
We want the Father's Day gift to let our father's know how special they
are and how much we love them. So take some extra time this year and get
your father something that he will really love. For all of you women out
there who are having a hard time deciding what to buy the fathers in your
life here are some ideas to help you in choosing Father's day gifts.
Think about what your dad really likes. What are his interests? What does
he do in his spare time? Is he a sports fan? You might purchase tickets to
a game or monthly subscription to a sports magazine. If all else fails there
is always team merchandise that you can buy. Does he love to fish? Think about
adding a new fly to his collection or purchasing a new hat to wear on the lake.
Does he enjoy working in his yard? There are plenty of neat lawn tools that
you could purchase.
Look into your father's past for some good gift ideas. Was your father into
hotrods? Did he play in a jazz band or serve in the military? What was his
first job? Think about the stories that you have heard and then get him
something that relates maybe a memento, map, book, or food item from another
country.
You can also look into your own past with your father. Was there a specific
activity that you did together? I still remember the time my dad took me
bowling all by myself. A fun gift for my father might be bowling passes.
If you still haven't thought of a great gift consider your father's needs.
Maybe he's mentioned that he needs a certain tool or wishes he had a new fishing
pole. Think of items that would make his life more enjoyable, something he
probably wouldn't buy for himself.
If you have siblings it can be a good idea to pool your resources and buy one
more expensive gift. This way you can get your father a more expensive gift that
you would probably not be able to afford on your own. My family usually does this.
We don't worry about everyone paying the same amount. They just pay what they can
afford. Both my younger brother and brother-in-law are still in college so they
don't have as much to contribute as my other sister and I.
Often times it is harder to tell our dad's that we love him than it is our
mother's. Saying, "I love you" just doesn't seem very manly. So take the opportunity
to let your dad know how much you care. Write him a letter or decorate his car or
door with notes telling him all of the things that you appreciate about him. After
all Father's Day is really about letting our fathers know how important and loved
they are.
