The Jonas Brothers are an American pop boys’ band. The band consists of three brothers Paul Kevin Jonas II, Joseph Adam Jonas and Nicholas Jerry Jonas. They are famously known as Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas respectively. The brothers are originally from Wyckoff, New Jersey. Their band originated in the United States in the year 2005. The Jonas Brothers band gained its popularity from the Disney Channel children’s television network.

Joe Jonas does the lead vocal; he also plays the guitar, keyboard and Jonas Brotherspercussions. Kevin Jonas Plays the Guitar and piano and is the part of the backing vocals. Nick Jonas Plays guitar, piano, drums and also is the lead vocal. Their backup band includes four more participants. They are John Taylor playing the Guitar, Greg Garbowsky playing Bass guitar, Jack Lawless playing the Drums, percussion and finally, Ryan Liestman operating the Keyboards.

The Jonas Brothers are known for their wholesome and a family-friendly image. Their father, Kevin. Sr. is a former Assembly of God Pastor. Kevin, Joe and Nick were home-schooled by their mother Denise. The brothers were a purity ring on the ring finger of their left hand signifying their vow to abstain from premarital sex. They also say that it symbolizes their promise to them and God to be pure till they marry. They also abstain from alcohol, drugs and tobacco.

The band basically was started as a solo project for Nick Jonas. When Nick was seven, he began acting in several plays like A Christmas Carol, Beauty and the Beast, The sound of Music, Annie Get Your Gun, Les Miserables and Paper Mill Playhouse. In the year 2002, all brothers started writing songs for Nick. But Nick’s voice was not much appreciated. Later it was decided that the songs will be a group act by the three brothers.

Till date, The Jonas Brothers have released four albums. They are It’s About time, Jonas Brothers, A Little Bit Longer and Lines, Vines and Trying Times. They were nominated for the 51st Grammy Award and they won American Music Award for the Breakthrough Artist. Before the release of their last album, ‘Lines, Vines and trying times’ in May 2009, the brothers have sold over eight million albums all over the world.

The Jonas Brothers earned an estimated $12 million in 2007, and have donated 10% of their earnings to their own charity, Change for the Children Foundation, where contributors donate to charities and places such as “Nothing But Nets”, “American Diabetes Foundation”, “St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital”, “Children’s Hospital Los Angeles”, and “Summer Stars: Camp for the Performing Arts”. The band stated that:

We started The Change for the Children Foundation to support programs that motivate and inspire children to face adversity with confidence, determination and a will to succeed. Since August 6, 2008, Bayer Diabetes Care has partnered with Nick Jonas as a diabetes ambassador to promote the idea for young people to manage their diabetes, as Nick was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 13. Nick testified in the U.S. Senate to promote more research funding for diabetes.
